In March 1994, Marvel Comics started publishing a comic book series based on Beavis and Butt-head. The comics played out like the series, featuring the duo getting into mischief everywhere around Highland. These comics were based on the early seasons and were much wackier than the series itself; they also expanded on the series lore, and gave minor characters like Earl and Billy Bob more appearances and bigger roles. In place of music videos, the duo read other Marvel comics and commented on them as interstitials. The comics were released monthly until June 1996.
