Door-to-Door is the first episode of Season 1 of Beavis and Butt-head. It is the third overall episode, following Frog Baseball and Peace, Love & Understanding.

Plot[]

Beavis and Butt-Head must participate in Mr. Van Driessen's 60's experiment, so they set out to go door-to-door. But, there's just one problem...the boys are violated by local dominatrix Mistress Cora Anthrax! The next morning, Van Driessen's class receives a note:

"When your charity work was explained to me by those charming young men, Beavis and Butt-head, my heart went out to those poor children overseas. Good luck, and please send Beavis and Butt-head around if you need more."

And enclosed was a check for 100 dollars. Van Driessen rewards the two by giving his prized albums, as they go outside to smash them into many pieces.

Censorship[]

  • In the Wizja Jeden airing of Door-to-Door (Version B), the entire Mistress Cora Anthrax scene is cut out, along with the Sir-Mix-A-Lot and Madonna music videos, along with changing a scene during the Nine Inch Nails and Suicidal Tendencies commentaries.

Edits[]

  • On the Still Stupid PAL VHS tape, the sequence where Beavis is flickering his lighter in school is edited out. Although, this episode is uncut on the “History of Beavis and Butt-head part 1” PAL VHS tape and on the region 1 “History of Beavis and Butt-head” DVD.
  • Initial airings used the same font from the episode title for the music video credits as well as the credits being in all capital letters. Some of the credits were changed as well: in "Head Like a Hole" "TVT Records" was changed to simply "TVT," and in "School for Fools" "LSD" was changed to "Life, Sex & Death" and the album the song was from, Silent Majority, was added.

Trivia[]

  • Mike Judge himself despises this episode, alongside with Give Blood and Peace, Love and Understanding. He described the episodes as "awful, I don't know why anybody liked it... I was burying my head in the sand."
  • It was the first episode to use digital ink and paint.
  • Although some episode guides list this as the second episode of Season 1, it is actually the first episode in order of airing, followed by Give Blood. Both episodes premiered on the same date.
  • This episode along with Give Blood were rarely shown anymore after there were more episodes in rotation.
  • The "Garden of Eden" commentary was changed from "Frog Baseball" version B: the animation of Butt-Head attempting to sing along to the song was removed and an animation of Butt-Head and Beavis laughing not long after was added, the animation of Butt-Head and Beavis rocking out to the song was replaced with newer animation, and the animation near the end of the commentary of Butt-Head and Beavis laughing was made slightly longer.
  • Released on the "History of Beavis and Butt-head" home video.
  • Despite this technically being the third Beavis and Butt-Head cartoon, this is the first official episode of the show as well as the series premiere.
  • In the opening, the woman on TV saying "Please! Just pennies a day..." is a parody of actress Sally Struthers, who was known for her "feed the children" infomercials.
  • Mistress Cora Anthrax's line "Yes, that Madonna book was worth ever penny" was a reference to the book Sex, which Madonna had recently published, and which depicted sadomasochism.
  • The fan-made KingTurd collection included a version of the Scorpions video, "Rock You Like a Hurricane" that uses stock footage from a hurricane documentary. Despite this placement in a fan edit, no original recordings have surfaced that place this version of "Rock You Like a Hurricane" in Door-to-Door or any other specific episode of the show.
  • Some versions of this episode cold open to the boys watching TV before playing the intro and theme song. Cold opens were unusual for this series, which typically opened each episode block with a disclaimer or theme song.
  • The order of the house visits varies between versions.
