"We're gonna be talking about the PENIS!"
— Mr. Buzzcut

"You wanna see a man?! Kick me in the jimmy!"
— Coach Buzzcut

Coach Bradley Buzzcut is the secondary antagonist of Beavis and Butt-head. He is a strict and serious teacher who hates fooling around and is one of Beavis and Butt-head's main adversaries, and arguably their toughest.

Buzzcut teaches health, physical education, sex education, and math classes at Highland High, as well as coaching the school's varsity football, basketball, and wrestling teams. He is also in charge of detention. He is voiced by Mike Judge.

Physical appearance[]

Coach Buzzcut is a middle-aged muscular man with a white gym shirt with "COACH" written on it, and blue gym shorts (sometimes track pants). Despite his surname, his haircut is actually a crew cut. When he is teaching other subjects, he wears a green collared shirt with a dark green tie, and dark olive pants, reminiscent of a military dress uniform.

In Season 8, he is one of, if not the only character to have a notable redesign. The change is in his hairstyle, where it goes from a crew cut to possibly balding on his scalp, and his shirt no longer says "COACH".

Personality[]

Buzzcut is a very patriotic former Marine drill instructor and Vietnam War veteran. He is characterized by his short temper, frequent angry outbursts, and general disdain for his students, most of whom he regards as weak. With the possible exception of Principal McVicker, Buzzcut probably hates Beavis and Butt-head more than any other character. He regularly makes life hard for the duo and questions their manhood (as seen in "Buff 'N' Stuff", in which he asks Butt-head what makes him think that he is a man. Butt-head then responded, "Uhh, I got testicles." Buzzcut continues to tell Butt-head to "kick him in the jimmy", which he does twice). He always threatens to kill the boys, but he never does, instead just beating them up. He even stated that he endures them and he tries not to kill them. Although Buzzcut is fearless, he has expressed shock a couple of times; in "Safe Driving", he is shown screaming in terror with the duo as they crash into a truck, and in "Head Lice", he shows a burst of surprise when he notices the duo's head lice.

He is shown substitute-teaching regular classes, but usually teaches physical education. It has been implied and even shown that he has on occasion committed assault and battery against the duo, but he once defended them from (as well as beating up) Mr. Candy (previously known as "Mr. Manners") by saying, "This is my class! I do the ass-kicking around here!". Buzzcut takes the blows with little pain.

In the episode "P.T.A.", Beavis and Butt-head tell everyone that Buzzcut was abusing them, causing the Board of Education to put Buzzcut on investigation. This makes Buzzcut so mad that he demands to know who the two people are so he can kill them. This cannot be attributed to his hatred and wanting to kill Beavis and Butt-head, being that he did not know that the duo were said people.

Throughout the series, Coach Buzzcut has shown to have a very sadistic personality and takes pleasure in seeing Beavis and Butt-head suffer, though he does show hatred towards other students. One of his more sadistic moments in the show is in episode, "Young, Gifted, & Crude", when he told his students to beat up a student from a gifted class for no reason.

In "Beavis and Butt-head Are Dead", Van Driessen attempts to sway sympathy for them. However, Buzzcut reminds him that Beavis and Butt-head has caused the faculty and McVicker a lot of grief over the years. However, his flashbacks were of him tormenting the duo, instead of the other way around. He mentions to Van Driessen that it took every ounce of his self-control not to kill them, finishing that even thinking of them kills any of his sense of human dignity and expressing his hope that their deaths were slow and painful.

Video Games[]

  • Buzzcut appears in the Sega Genesis game, teaching science. He pushes a button to launch and channel electrodes through two containers of liquid. The duo must either belch, or fart, at him, until he gags and moves his hand off the button. Then, they must quickly race to grab both beakers of liquid, otherwise be shocked.
  • Buzzcut appears in the Super Nintendo game as a recurring enemy in the Highland High School stage; he attacks the duo by grabbing them by the legs and repeatedly slamming them into the floor.
  • Buzzcut appears in Beavis and Butt-head: Virtual Stupidity, at the beginning of the game in the gymnasium watching someone doing push-ups. He later appears at the Veteran's Hall, where the player has to ask him to clean the tank, which he reluctantly agrees to. Much later, he appears at the coffee house, where he aggressively grabs the duo, knowing they were the ones responsible for the tank incident earlier in the game; Beavis has to kick him in the "jimmy" to make him let go. He is the one who picks up the bear with the door opener needed for the garage with Todd's car inside.
  • Buzzcut appears as a cutout in Beavis and Butt-head: Bunghole in One.
  • Buzzcut does not appear in Beavis and Butt-head Do U, but he is mentioned.

Trivia[]

  • Buzzcut is one of the few characters to not appear in Beavis and Butt-head Do America. He does, however, appear in Do the Universe.
  • Although the voice of Hank Hill from Mike Judge's other animated series King of the Hill is based on that of Tom Anderson, Hank sometimes sounds like Buzzcut when he yells. This is because Buzzcut's voice is actually a much louder version of the voice used for him.
  • His look, voice, and role are based heavily on that of Gunnery Sgt. Hartman from Full Metal Jacket, played by R. Lee Ermey, whom Buzzcut is also based upon.
  • While Buzzcut is a former Marine, he claims he served in Vietnam under the 1st Infantry Division (aka The Big Red One), which is part of the Army. Following the Marine tradition of naming your rifle, his M-16 was named Grace.
  • His popularity grew in June 2021 because of the meme "WE'RE GONNA BE TALKING ABOUT (X)". The meme is from the episode No Laughing Part 2.
  • It is very likely that he is a war criminal and even brags about his war crimes in graphic detail in the episode Buff 'N' Stuff.
  • Despite their obvious hatred for Buzzcut, Beavis and Butt-head actually respect him more than Van Driessen and the other faculty members, probably due to his violent nature. Indicating that he is one of the most violent characters in the series even more so albeit less hateful than Principal McVicker.
  • Buzzcut was replaced with a new Gym teacher in the episode Are You There God? It's Me, Beavis.
